Donate to Milton Road Primary School PTA
We undertake major projects as well as funding smaller requests from teachers to support the learning and well-being of children at the school. Teachers are welcome to send funding requests to the PTA at any time by emailing hello@miltonroadpta.org.
Forest school development
Forest school sessions are an inspiring and treasured part of the curriculum at Milton Road. We are very lucky to have our very own Wonder Wood, which is a place for children to recharge during a busy week. We are working with the forest school leader to support the forest school area. There are a number of educational resources we have funded such as whittling knives, a potions and concoctions outdoor mixing kit, a rope swing and rope ladder. We are funding a heavy duty (and fire retardant) sail which will cover a log circle around a fire pit, providing an outdoor teaching space sheltered from the elements. The pond in the forest school area has become a little overgrown and needs some renovation. It is home to frogs and newts so great care will be taken so that the ecosystem continues to thrive. The school staff have recently discovered how deep the water is and we are investigating ways to make the pond safer for children to be around. The school pond is a wonderful natural resource for learning about ecosystems and life cycles and it is also an important haven for wildlife.
EYFS playground development
This year we are aiming to raise funds for a significant refurbishment of the Reception year playground, removing the hill, as the concrete has deteriorated, and overhauling the outdoor learning area. More details on this to come! If you would like to be involved in the planning phase, please get in touch with us hello@miltonroadpta.org.
Annual year group fund
Last year we funded a budget for the teachers in each year group to decide what to buy for their classes or year groups. This provided an opportunity for teachers to supplement their educational resources with items that are not covered by the normal school budget. Examples are wooden planters and soil for growing vegetables, class cameras and immersive historical experiences.
The feedback from the teachers was extremely positive and we will have another year group fund for 2024-25.
