Year 5

Hello and welcome to the Year 5 team.

We are looking forward to a fun-filled year with your children as they rise to the extra challenges of upper key stage two; further independence, teamwork, positions of responsibility and representing the school in the wider community.

We start our year with a look back in time to the Ancient Greeks launched by a visit to the Fitzwilliam museum. We have many trips planned, ranging from winter ice-skating (rink permitting!) to playing Real Tennis like Henry VIII.

Year five got off to a delicious start with preparing and tasting a Greek salad. This gave us the ideal opportunity to work with our new classmates and collaborate in culinary creativity. For many children this was the first time they had tried these ingredients and it seemed to go down very well.  We look forward to further exploration into the world of Ancient and Modern Greece.

Following parents evening a number of parents were asking about Apps, Websites and ideas to work with your children on their maths. This booklet has been produced by the Cambridgeshire maths team highlighting some of the best sites etc. available. Please have a look by clicking on the image below.
