On Tuesday Year 5 were privileged to welcome local author, Mark Wells to talk about his exciting book, Riddle of the White Sphinx. This book is the inspiration for Hidden Tales, the Cambridge museums' treasure hunt which some of you may have been lucky enough to get involved with already. Only 29 children across the City have solved the mystery so far. Two of our own pupils included! Will you be next?
Throughout the afternoon, Year 5 children were able to enjoy the first 2 chapters of Mark’s book and begin their quest to solve the mystery. They also learnt about Marks’ journey from his initial idea to the final publishing and just how seven Cambridge museums are involved. There was the opportunity for children to ask questions of a real life author and of course a chance for autographs and book signing. There were some very enthused young writers and readers by the end of the afternoon!
Here is a link to the Hidden Tales website https://www.hiddentales.co.uk/ if you would like to find out more, purchase a copy or get involved. We are very grateful to Mark for his free visit to the school and the children for being such a receptive audience.
