What a busy half term in Foundation Stage! We have themed our learning about ‘What the Ladybird Heard’. We have role-played the story, made maps of the farmyard and wanted posters to catch the robbers! The children have been busy applying their phonic skills and challenging themselves.
In maths we have focused on subtraction. We have been using the toy animals to practise taking away. We have moved on to pictorial representations and the crossing out method. We have also been looking at the numbers 14 and 15 and representing them in different ways.
In phonics we have learnt the sounds ur, ow, or, ear, air, er, ure as well as tricky words ‘are’ and ‘all’. We have now finished learning all phase 3 sounds and tricky words. Please make sure you consolidate this learning with your child as we will be moving onto phase 4 soon.
After half term we will be focusing on ‘The Girl, the Bear and the Magic Shoes’ by Julia Donaldson. Have a wonderful half term!
