We have been very busy over the last couple of weeks in Foundation Stage. The children showed an interest in building bridges to help the gingerbread man. We followed this interest and chose to base our learning around the story of ‘Three Billy Goats Gruff’.
A mysterious bridge appeared in our outdoor area, as well as some mysterious footprints. The troll wrote us a letter telling us he was lonely and that he needed some friends. We wrote back with some suggestions like ‘don’t eat people or goats!’
In maths we have been focussing on addition. We have been using lots of practical resources to add two groups of objects together. We have also looked at the symbols + and = . Please reinforce this at home. Some children are beginning to hold a number in their head and count on.
Thank you so much to parents who attended our maths workshops. The children loved sharing their learning with you. The feedback from the sessions was really helpful. We will get materials and resources to you as soon as possible.
In phonics we have learnt the new digraphs and trigraphs: ch, sh, th, ng, ai, ee, igh, oa, oo, ar and or. We have learnt the tricky words: we, me, be, was, my, you, they. Please consolidate these sounds with your children and practise spotting them in words.
In the next couple of weeks we will be looking at the story ‘What the Ladybird Heard’. Thanks for your continued support.
