The children have come back after half term refreshed and raring to go! We have certainly been busy!
We have based some of our learning opportunities around autumn, taking inspiration from the increasingly autumnal weather! The children loved their autumnal adventure in our beautiful school grounds. We jumped in puddles, kicked piles of leaves and climbed over stiles! We have enjoyed some autumnal stories like Pumpkin Soup and Sonny’s Wonderful Wellies. On this note- please make sure all children have wellies in school as we are out and about in all weathers!
In phonics we have learnt the sounds ck, e, u, r. We have also learnt tricky words (words children learn by sight): I and no. We are really pleased to see some children labelling their pictures (lots of p for pumpkin)! Some children even wrote some firework words on their pictures. They segmented p-o-p and b-a-ng and carefully wrote the sounds!
In our maths learning we have focussed on the numbers 4 and 5. We have also looked at repeating patterns and positional language.
Next week we will be focussing our learning around ‘After the Storm’ by Nick Butterworth.
Have a wonderful weekend.
