The Y6 children have just returned from a week's residential course at PGL Caythorpe Court in Lincolnshire. This amazing opportunity gave the 55 children who attended the chance to participate in a wide range of new skills and experiences. These included: kayaking, aeroball, raftbuilding, archery, giant swing, high ropes, sensory trail, trapeze, rifle shooting, problem solving, zip wire, tunnel trail and buggy building.
Over the course of the week, the children didn't stop learning new skills including working well in teams and encouraging others. Many children were nervous of a particular activity perhaps because of a dislike of heights or confined spaces. However the expertly trained staff were able to allow all the children to have a go at the level they felt safe. This led to the development of pride and self confidence. The action was non-stop over the 5 days and with all the activities taking place outdoors, healthy appetites were built up. Luckily, PGL have excellent catering and nobody went hungry!
