The MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology (MRC LMB) in Cambridge is running the Science Image Award - an exciting competition aimed at Year 5/6 pupils in local primary schools to encourage scientific curiosity by connecting the microscopic world to everyday life. Year 6 at Milton Road had the opportunity to use a hand-held digital microscope (DinoLite) provided free-of-charge for two weeks to take images of biological samples (e.g. insects, plants, feathers...) that they had collected. We now have to submit our 10 best images to the competition. It was a very hard choice, as you can see from the four examples shown, the standard was very high.
The winning school will be awarded a prize of a digital imaging device, and second and third prize-winners will also be awarded a science-related prize. Fingers crossed!
