Fun in the Sun for Y6
Year 6 had an amazing time in sunny Lincolnshire last week on their fantastic PGL trip. With excitement in the air, they piled onto their coach for the first part of their adventure. Upon arrival at Grafham Water, the children participated in bushcraft activities and climbing challenges.
After a packed lunch, it was off to Caythorpe Court for the rest of the week. As we journeyed up the A1, the drizzle dissipated so that we arrived at PGL in glorious sunshine. After settling into our accommodation we went for a tour of the site before a delicious dinner. The canteen was very popular with plenty of choice for everyone. Even the fussiest of eaters (yes you Mrs Williams), was able to find something to enjoy. Dishes included sausage and mash, Thai curry, meatballs and spaghetti amongst others.
The next morning we were up bright and early with a variety of activities in store for the day. Over the course of the week, the children were able to try their hand at: kayaking, aeroball, archery, raft building, giant swing, zip wire, buggy building, trapeze, high ropes, problem solving, sensory trail and rifle shooting.
In the evenings, Y6 had a number of different experiences including a campfire, Capture the Flag and Passport to the World games and the ever popular disco. Mr Williams and Mrs Brown-Roche were both spotted boogying on down to classics such as Cotton Eyed Joe!
For the whole week, the sun shone and the children participated with enthusiasm and ever increasing self-confidence. It was an absolute pleasure to watch the way they pushed themselves to try new endeavours whilst supporting their friends and working as teams.
