Year 6 Midlands
Trip Update
Despite
a rainy morning yesterday the children are really enjoying themselves and
have been doing archery, quad biking, the high trapeze and climbing.
They have enjoyed visiting the tuck shop
with their pocket money!
Dalek Visit
|

|
We
had visit from a Dalek on 9th March.
Year 1 had chance to meet it and ask some questions. The Dalek was shiny and quite scary but
it agreed to answer all the Year 1 questions. Nobody was exterminated.

African dance and djembe drumming
workshop
|

|
Batafon
Arts visited the school on Friday 5th March to deliver a day of workshops
of African dance and djembe drumming to all the children in Years 1 and 6.
Ali Baba led the drumming sessions at last year’s Proms in the Playground
event which we hosted with Castle School, and is also well know to several members
of staff for the workshops he delivers regularly in Cambridge and around the country. The day
ended with a performance of drumming and dance in front of the whole
school.

Wheat Planting
|

|
During
the Winter Fair (Dec 4th) some hardy gardener joined Mrs. Lawrence to plant
some Soissant wheat, kindly donated by a parent, in one of the beds
in the school vegetable patch. It had germinated by the time we came
back after the Christmas holidays and we hope that we will be able to
harvest a crop at the beginning of the autumn term for the whole school to
be involved with milling and making bread to share.
